Jana Burns sends word of an upcoming concert:
As a volunteer with the Opelika Arts Association, I wanted to invite everyone to join us for “Sing! Sing! Sing!”: A Tribute to Benny Goodman’s Famous 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert. Ken Peplowski and the Kingdom of Swing Big Band will be performing at the Opelika Performing Arts Center on Friday, January 27th, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Peplowski was hand-selected for his phenomenal talent as a clarinetist by Benny Goodman, with whom he toured for many years. This concert tour is a tribute to Benny Goodman’s concert that not only featured an integrated big band, but showed that jazz and swing music can truly be enjoyed as an art form as well as a favored dance sound. Join us for a night of great music and fun!
